Sweden Opts Out of British Driving System

In 1967, Sweden changed the direction of traffic. Instead of driving on the left side of the road as the were used to, they converted to right side driving like the rest of continental Europe. Authorities had to ban traffic for 5 hours in order to change all the signs, and the army was requisitioned to help.

The maximum speed was reduced and was brought back to normal step by step over a period of a month.
