The Symbolism Of The 52 Card Deck

The number of cards in a deck is based on the Gregorian calendar. There are 4 colors for the four seasons of the year, 12 figures for the 12 months, 52 cards for 52 weeks and the sum of all points in a deck of cards plus the joker is 365 representing the number of days per year.

The total of each color is 91 points (the jacks, queens and kings worth respectively 11, 12 and 13 points), resulting in 364 points for all 4 suits. When we add the 1 point joker, the points total is 365. You will notice all decks come with 2 jokers, the second added to represent a leap year (366 days).
