An Ice Hotel Where You Can Sleep At A Cool 23 Degrees

In regions that are appropriate, temporary hotels can be built by using snow and carved ice blocks. The first one was built in Sweden in 1989 and is located in the village of Jukkasjärvi, 200km from the Arctic Circle.

Each year it takes about two months to build and decorate the place where you can spend the night in one of the 60 rooms where the ambient temperature is 23 degrees Fahrenheit / -5 degrees Celsius.

The room decoration is sometimes done by world renowned artists. As an example, the suite "Legacy of the River" was designed by Ben Rousseau and Ian Douglas-Jones.
