Why Do Butter Is Normally Darker In The Summer?

Butter is normally darker in the summer due to an increased presence of chlorophyll and carotene in the diet of cows. To maintain the same color of butter throughout the years, manufacturers sometimes add dyes. This dye is added so as not to disrupt the consumer. It is either carotene or a natural pigment.
