Alan Smithee - The film director who never existed

In some films, the director is named Alan Smithee. This name is fictitious and is used when a director is in conflict with producers over content and does not want to have his name associated with the movie.

A film directed by Alan Smithee is not a good sign because it indicates that there has been a problem between the director and the producer during the development of the film.
