In 1564, the Church retouched "the Last Judgement" painted by Michelangelo on the wall of the Sistine Chapel a few years earlier, to cover the nudes that caused a scandal. The Church spoke to Daniele Volterra, so that he covered the genitals of the characters. These additions are still in place today. These alterations earned Volterra the nickname "Il Braghettone" ("the breeches maker").
